Leading aluminium systems company Smart Architectural Aluminium reports that their first year exhibiting at the Ecobuild Exhibition has been a huge success. The sustainable construction show attracted over 60,000 visitors and encouragingly there was a positive atmosphere evident from both visitors and exhibitors throughout the exhibition.

There was particular interest in Smart's message of sustainable building solutions which corresponded well with the theme of the exhibition. Visitors were particularly interested to learn that 50% of the aluminium billet used by Smart is recycled aluminium. Smart also discussed with attendees their aim of achieving a carbon neutral production operation through pursuing sustainable power generation.

Smart also showcased key green commercial products at the exhibition with the Alitherm 300 and Alitherm 800 A Rated aluminium windows, Greenstar 1.0W/m²K window, Evolution Heritage window and thermally broken shopfront and commercial door system Smart Wall, with all receiving a great deal of enquiries.

Continuing the growth of the Qualicoat specification label for powder coating architectural profiles in the UK, Qualicoat UK & Ireland are pleased to announce they have recently approved membership of Smart Architectural Aluminium.

Based in Yatton, Somerset, Samrt Architectural Aluminium are one of the leading aluminium systems companies in the UK, providing a full range of domestic and commercail windows, doors and facde systems. The company installed a modern horizontal powder coating plant at their premises three years ago, with a view to becoming Qualicoat approved, once the plant was fully operational.

To gain approval to use the Qualicoat label, a powder coating plant must first meet stringent plant requirements laid down by Qualicoat. This forms the basis of the first plant inspection. By having the right specification of equipment installed and being utilised correctly ensures consistent and superior quality of the finished profile.

Following further unannounced inspections from Qualicosts independent testing laboratory, Exova, processes are then carefully monitored to ensure that the Qualicoat specification is being followed. Once inspectors are happy that the minimum standard is being exceeded, approval is requested from Qualicoat's head office in Zurich for member approval.

To maintain a members Qualicoat label, and membership of Qualicoat UK & Ireland, members are visited by Exova inspectors twice each year, again unannounced, to ensure that processes meet the Qualicoat specification.

Smart Architectural Systems join a growing membership of powder coaters, pre-treatment systems and powder coat manufacturers in the UK & Ireland. Qualicoat UK & Ireland association members meet on a frequent basis to discuss and review technical advances in powder coating and sustainability issues relating to production and life expectancy.

When the Yale suit is chosen, the customer receives a Yale handle and cylinder, with the option of either a Yale matched locking or the Winkhaus upgrade.

Winkhaus has 150 years' experience in producing locking systems for the world market. Approved by the British Police 'Secured by Design' (SBD) initiative (with lock faceplates stamped with the SBD logo), the Trulock is one of the strongest and most reliable locks on the market. Renowned for its durability this German, superbly engineered lock has been a popularchoice in the new build and social housing markets for many years.
